Will work on engine again to convert to DCC if feasible.
It functioned OK for two days and now not at all. Nothing else has changed. Track is perfectly smooth at all junctions.
Very frustrating. Others who have had this same problem with Bachmann products are advised in online forums to invest in an upgrade to something called Kadee or Sergent couplers and buying a coupler height gauge and shims. WAY more than I want to get into with a set that's supposed to be ready-to-run. This one is going back.
Also, be aware that there are two different sets with two different types of rolling stock.
One lights up (the set that has the cars "Chulitna" or "Chena"), and the other does not (the set that has the cars "Knik" and "Kenai")
(The "Chulitna" and "Chena" are also available as open stock, for about seventy dollars each.)
The locomotive lights up on both sets.
The controller in the set that I received does not have 16 volt accessory pins like my other Bachmann controller (that came with an N-Scale set)
